I really try to keep our holidays candy free because my kids gets to enjoy everywhere else. We try not to bring it home too often. I like focus our Easter Baskets around outdoor play time for the Spring and Summer months and activities to help keep my kids entertained. I like some necessities with a fun twist, too.
Enjoy this list of ideas for a candy free Easter Basket!
Outdoor Play
- Bubbles, we love the sun squad brand at Target. Get the giant bubble wand set, too. It is inexpensive and provides hours and hours of entertainment. We spend hours every Spring and Summer blowing and chasing bubbles.
- Bubble Machines
- Chalk
- Reusable water balloons, we used these in our pool last Summer and loved them! You can reuse them again and again, just make sure you wash them every now and then.
- Water Toys, These swimming turtles are so fun but they don't last that long.
- Bug Nets, grab them at Dollar Tree. Lightening bugs in the Summer evenings are great entertainment. Show your kids how to make an old fashion nightlight.
- Fishing Poles, Fun character fishing poles are found at all of the big box stores. These Hot Wheels poles are on Amazon.
- Frisbee, balls, bats, gloves and anything else that is related to sports will be a hit with your little athlete.
- Sprinkler, we have this one!
- Water Table, this is the one my kids have + they LOVE it!
- Outdoor Ball, you can find these anywhere. I like soccer balls because they're durable and heavy enough to not blow away.
- Kites, grab these at the dollar tree. They are cheaply made but so inexpensive to replace if needed. They have so many popular characters.
- Water Guns, love this brand.
- Binoculars
- Parachute Toys This is a multipack for some healthy competition.
- Rocket Launcher
- Airplane Launcher, this one is fun!
Arts + Crafts
- Multi Colored Pens (The thick ones with the different color buttons on the top)
- Rainbow colored pencils, so fun!
- Fingerpaint
- Crayons
- Diamond Art, great for coordination and keeps them busy for awhile.
- Scratch Art, messy but fun and inexpensive
- Hidden Pictures Book
Specialty Items
- Hats, these are great because they also protect their neck.
- Sunglasses, I like that these have the straps so they don't get lost.
- Swim Suits, Cat + Jack brand at Target is great!
- Sandals or Crocs
- Rain Boots, great for wide little feet!
- Umbrella
- Bubble bath! My kids have sensitive skin and do very well with this bubble bath. Weather not good enough to go outside? Bubble bath. Kids feeling restless? Bubble bath. Kids not getting along? Put one in a bubble bath! I think water is really therapeutic for kids (and everyone else.)

These are great ways to keep candy to a minimum! Seems like someone is always trying to give our children candy, and we have to discreetly find another home for it 😉

We are all about enrichment filled gifts- especially since they can be used right alongside us.
We love buying things for our kids to help garden (gloves, watering can, spray bottle).
