These high protein chocolate chip muffins make a great breakfast option for busy mornings, a great after school snack for sports on the go, or a yummy treat! They are loaded with real food ingredients and have extra protein to help you reach your protein goals.

These muffins taste similar to a regular chocolate chip muffin but are packed with more protein and have added healthy ingredients. You can also pronounce everything in them which is always a plus!
This was inspired by my high protein chocolate strawberry muffins on this site, and pairs well with a creamy hot morning coffee.

Ingredients
This recipe uses real food ingredients that contribute to your health instead of working against it. I don't know about you, but as I have gotten older and had children, I have become a label reader and it is WILD to see how many ingredients prepackaged food has! I honestly have no idea what some of their ingredients are and I can't pronounce them. These high protein chocolate chip muffins are an easy snack that you can feel good about because you know what's in them.

- Cottage Cheese + unflavored protein powder for moisture and added protein
- Honey + Maple Syrup for flavor and sweetness
- Avocado oil for moisture
See recipe card for full list of ingredients and quantities.
Instructions
These high protein chocolate chip muffins are easy to make with just a blender. Start by pre heating your oven to 350℉ and gathering everything you need.

- Step 1: Combine all of the wet ingredients into your blender or food processor. You want the wet ingredients in the bottom because they won't stick like the dry ingredients once you blend.

- Step 2: Add all of your dry ingredients, other than your chocolate chips, on top and blend until smooth.

- Step 3: Stir in your chocolate chips.

- Step 4: Divide your batter into 12 muffin liners and bake for about 18 minutes or until tops get a little browned.

This is what your muffins should look like when they are done.
Hint: In the oven they will look tall but when you pull them out, they will fall down and crinkle a little bit as they cool. They should be firm but not hard once cooled.
Substitutions
You can make this recipe your own.
- All purpose flour - instead of using ½ cup of almond flour, you can use the full 1.5 cups of all purpose flour.
- Protein Powder- You can add unflavored protein powder for some extra protein. I do about two or 3 "serving" scoops. You don't need to change anything else whether you do or do not add it. I have made it both ways several times.
Variations
You can witch up the flavors by adding different chocolate chips. I prefer to use dark chocolate but you can use semi-sweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips. Hershey also makes a cinnamon chocolate chip that would be tasty.
You could also switch up the flavor of protein powder you use. Strawberry protein powder would probably be very good with dark chocolate chips.
You can find a similar recipe that is a chocolate strawberry flavor here.
Equipment
You will need a blender or food processor for this recipe. I have this one, which includes both, and love it. It is my second set because I used the other one to death.
Storage
You can store these in a ziploc bag on the counter for 3-4 days. I have found that most muffins also freeze very well in an airtight container for several months. I'm not an expert in freezing food, but we almost always freeze our extra muffins. They always thaw out just as delicious as they were fresh.
Top Tip
Don't worry if the tops fall when you take them out of the oven. Give them awhile to cool off and settle.
FAQ
Yes, I like to use 2-3 "serving size" scoops. I prefer unflavored.
No, it would change the texture too much. They would likely be very crumbly and not feel like they have enough "substance" to hold them together.
