green beans on a plate with seasonings.

This recipe pairs very well with my Parmesan Chicken Meatballs. I usually sauté these seasoned green beans in a pan but when it's warm enough outside I make most things on the Blackstone. They turn out perfectly crispy and delicious cooked both ways!

For extra delicious flavor, cook with some fresh onions and bacon.

    Ingredients

seasoned green beans in a dish
    • Green Beans
    • Salted Butter
    • Salt
    • Dried Minced Onion
    • Dried Parsley
    • Dried Oregano
    • Dried Basil

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

This seasoned green beans side dish is super simple to make and just takes a few minutes.

Step 1. Wash your green beans and pop the stems off or you can use frozen pre-washed and pre-cut.

Step 2. Get a pan hot on medium high heat and add your green beans.

Step 3. Add your butter and allow to cook for five minutes, stirring about halfway through.

Step 4. Add in all of your seasonings and continue cooking for a few more minutes.

Hint: I like to wait until closer to the end of cooking to add in my minced onion because it tends to burn easily.

    Substitutions

    • Minced Onion - You can use real sweet onion diced up but I prefer the minced onion for ease and flavor.
    • Butter - You can use salted or unsalted. I always have just salted on had. Use a little more salt if you use unsalted butter.

    Variations

You can make another version of this for a bold flavor.

    • Bacon - Cook up some bacon in tiny pieces to add bold flavor.
    • Onions - I like to add real onions when I use bacon.

    Equipment

All you need is a pan or griddle, some teaspoons, and something to stir.

    Storage

Once completely cool keep in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Good for 2-3 days.

    Top tip

Wait until the rest of your food is almost done cooking to start this recipe because it only takes a few minutes. Frozen green beans work just as well as fresh for this recipe.

    FAQ

Can I use frozen green beans for this recipe?

Absolutely, they work just as well as fresh green beans for this recipe.

Can I use onion powder as a replacement for minced onion?

No, It won't be the same because the minced onion doesn't spread out like powdered onion and also it gets crispy and delicious.

Does it matter if I use salted butter or unsalted butter?

No, I always have salted butter on hand but if you use unsalted, just add a little bit more salt.

This is great! I never put basil in green beans. Why?! I will use fresh when it's ready and dried for now. So good to have tasty veggie sides that are this easy!
