Focaccia bread is incredibly versatile and can be enjoyed in so many ways. Toast it and serve with eggs for a satisfying breakfast or brunch. Slice it in half and use it as sandwich bread, filling it with your favorite meats, cheeses, or veggies. Pair it with soups or salads to add a hearty, flavorful touch to your meal.

First, Let's get started with the original recipe.

    Equipment:

    • 2 Half sheet pans- rimmed
    • Oven
    • Bowl
    • Bowl cover, a shower cap, or cling wrap

    Ingredients:

    • 8 Cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 TBSP Lawry's garlic salt- If you follow my other recipes this is no surprise.
    • ¼ tsp Red pepper flakes
    • 1.5 tablespoon Yeast
    • 1 TBSP Honey
    • 1.5 tablespoon Sugar
    • 2 Cups shredded parmesan cheese
    • 1 Cup Cheddar cheese (optional)
    • Herbs: Lawry's garlic salt, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning
    • Olive Oil

    Instructions:

You're going to get your hands messy!

    1. Gather all of your equipment and ingredients and preheat your oven to 415℉
    2. First you're going to add lukewarm water to a bowl and mix in your yeast, honey, and sugar
    3. Stir it around with your hands until its dissolved somewhat and then let it sit for 5 minutes
    4. Now you can add in your Lawry's garlic salt and red pepper flakes
    5. Slowly add in the flour and mix with your hands. It will be sticky.
    6. Once it is mixed well, put a cover on the bowl and let it rest and rise somewhere warm

    Ready to prepare for baking!

    1. After about 1-1.2 hours you should see what it has just about to doubled and size
    2. First punch down the dough and then divide it in two.
    3. Put a good amount of olive oil in each rimmed baking sheet- enough to cover the bottom
    4. Add one half of the dough to each and then roll it around in the oil to coat it.
    5. There will be a lot of oil, if it isn't coated add some more.
    6. Slowly and gently stretch it out with your hands and let it rest a minute. It doesn't have to stretch all the way out to the edges of the baking sheet.
    7. Now it's time to use your fingers and poke holes in it- see photo above.
    8. Last, Add your garlic salt, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes and cheese.
    9. Let it rest a few minutes and then bake for about 18-20 minutes.
    10. It will be done when it's puffy and the top and edges are golden brown
    11. Finally, Enjoy your masterpiece!

Notes: Easy Focaccia Bread from Scratch 3 Ways

Turn this into a pizza- Bake until it is done but not golden brown yet then add your toppings and place back in the oven until cheese is melted.

Make it a sourdough discard recipe: Add 1 Cup discard and change the water to 3.5 Cups instead of 4 OR add in your discard without yeast and allow the dough to ferment until it has doubled in size. The amount of time depends on the temperature and humidity of the environment it's in.
