    Easy Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets

This post may contain affiliate links.

I decided to try out some easy homemade air fryer chicken nuggets. These have all healthy ingredients, and they are so simple to make. They're gluten free, too! My kids love chicken nuggets. They would prefer to live off of just chicken nuggets and mac n cheese. However, all of the processed chicken nuggets at the store really aren't great for you. Questionable ingredients, at best.

These are so simple, even for a beginner in the kitchen. If you have small kids that love the store-bought chicken nuggets, try these out. Even as an adult, my husband and I thought they were delicious.

    crispy air fryer chicken nuggets

I wanted to use healthy ingredients since that is the whole reason I try not to give my kids store-bought chicken nuggets. It took me a couple tries for these to turn out right. Mostly the baking method, the flavor was always good. I tried frying these in a pan, which worked okay until I tried to take them out of the pan and the breading fell off. In comes the air fryer. They cooked perfectly.

    Equipment

You will obviously need an air fryer since these are easy air fryer chicken nuggets. I am sure you could use an oven, too. You would just have to bake it for longer at a little higher of a temperature. You'll need a cutting board and knife to cube up your chicken. You'll need a pan with some parchment paper to bake the homemade chicken nuggets on. Two Bowls: one for the yogurt mixture and one for the breading. That's about it. You might need gloves if you hate touching raw meat like I do.

    Ingredients

    • Chicken: One pound of uncooked chicken, diced up into bite size or chicken nugget size pieces.
    • Plain Greek Yogurt: a healthy option for coating the yogurt before the breading. Keeps the chicken from frying out and keeps the breading sticking on.
    • Almond flour: This will be the base of your breading.
    • You'll add in some Lawry's garlic salt, onion powder, and paprika. It's so good!
ingredients for homemade crispy air fryer chicken nuggets

    Instructions

    1. First gather everything you need, cut about 1 pound of chicken up into bite size pieces or chicken nugget size pieces.
    2. In one bowl, add 1 cup of plain greek yogurt. In another bowl add in 1 Cup of Almond Flour, 2 teaspoon lawry's garlic salt, 1 teaspoon onion powder, and 1 teaspoon paprika. Mix well.
    3. Coat the small pieces of chicken with the yogurt mixture. I dip several in at a time to coat them.
    4. Then Roll them around in your almond flour mixture. Make sure they are coated really well.
    5. Spread them out on a parchment paper lined baking sheer. You don't want the breading to stick to anything.
    6. Air fry at 375° for about 20 minutes or until the internal temp of the chicken reaches at least 165. I like to make mine a little bit crispy so it feels more like a chicken nugget. This will take a few minutes longer.
    7. Remove from the air fryer and serve while they are hot. Enjoy!

    Leftovers

These will store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for about 2 days. When reheating, use an air fryer so that they will get crispy again. The microwave doesn't do the texture any favors.
