Are you wondering what to do with your extra sourdough discard after feeding your starter? Don't actually discard it! I have a delicious and easy sourdough discard chocolate chip cookies recipe.

These sourdough discard cookies are so delicious and fluffy. They're not too sweet but they still pass for a dessert. They're even on the healthier side of chocolate chip cookies. You don't have to worry about all of the extra processed sugars or even artificial sweeteners with this treat.

You'll also have the added benefits for your gut microbiome. It would be a shame to just throw the discard out. My kids love them and it's a family favorite. It's one of the sourdough recipes that I have been making the longest. It's nice knowing what's actually in your food. I'm excited for you to try this recipe!

These are easy to make and if you have seen my other recipes that is what my motto in the kitchen seems to be during these years when my kids are little. These come together in a matter of minutes, and they don't take long to bake either.

    Equipment

    • Mixing Bowl
    • Spatula
    • Cookie Sheet
    • Parchment paper or silicone liners

    • 2 Cups all purpose flour
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1.5 Cups dark chocolate chips

    Instructions:

    1. Pre heat your oven to 350°F
    2. First gather all of your ingredients and one large bowl
    3. Melt your butter so there are no lumps
    4. Stir in your egg, sugar, sourdough discard, vanilla extract
    5. Then mix all of your wet ingredients until well combined
    6. On top of your wet ingredients add in the flour, salt, baking soda
    7. Stir the dry ingredients around a bit before you fold them into the wet ingredients
    8. After everything is stirred well it's time to fold in your chocolate chips
    9. Divide evenly among 24 cookies
    10. Create a ball and gently press down to flatten it a little
    11. Bake 8-10 minutes
