These dairy free homemade waffles are simple and delicious. The ingredients are pretty minimum, and you just need one mixing bowl and a waffle maker. I like to add a vanilla protein powder to these to make them a little bit more filling. If you want to keep these dairy free, use a plant-based protein powder. My immediate family is not dairy free but I know a lot of people that are. You could customize these by changing up the flavor of protein powder that you use or how much protein powder you use.

There are so many different ways you could eat these to switch up the flavor. I like to use a simple blueberry syrup, a simple strawberry jam, eat with our favorite flavors of yogurt, or a plain pure maple syrup. My family absolutely loves waffles and pancakes. Making them from scratch is somewhat new to me, within the past two or three years. If I knew how easy they were to make, I would have been making them from scratch a long time ago.

To Keep these dairy free, we swapped a few things from traditional waffles. We use almond milk instead of cow milk. I swapped the butter for avocado oil. The protein powder can be a plant based protein powder. If there is one thing that you can learn from recipes, it's that they are usually adaptable. You can make them fit your family's needs.
This recipe makes about 12 waffles. We like to cook them pretty firm/ crispy. Are you team crispy waffles?

Notes
- You can use a plant-based protein powder, whichever flavor you like. We prefer just ingredients whey protein in vanilla flavor which is what I used for this recipe. You can add in more if you'd like. We love to top with my simple blueberry syrup or strawberry syrup with some vanilla yogurt. My kids love it with pure maple syrup, too.
Leftovers
- Store these in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. They reheat very well in a toaster oven and tend to keep their crispiness. You could use a normal toaster, too.
